A durable, 100% pure natural oil.Tung oil, also called "Chinese wood oil," is made from the seeds of the Tung tree and was used in Asia for finishing wooden ships, among other things, because the oil makes the wood water repellent. Today, Tung oil is used to protect wooden countertops, floors, furniture and for our SKOTTSBERG® wooden serving and cutting boards. Tung oil is a drying oil, soaks into the wood, is food safe and water repellent after drying, making it simply the best natural finish for wood available. Our SKOTTSBERG® Woodworks wood boards are already treated with 2 coats (diluted) Tung oil at the sawmill. This Tung oil is deeply soaked into the wood, so you can use the boards immediately.SKOTTSBERG® Tung oil is a durable 100% pure natural oil. Tung oil makes your wood darker, more vibrant, and gives a very nice matte to silk finish.Would you like to give your serving board an extra protective coat after frequent use? That's possible. Lightly sand the surface, make it completely dust-free and rub the Tung oil onto the board with a lint-free cloth. Remove the excess oil after about 15 minutes and repeat again after an hour. The board will need a few hours to up to a day to dry completely. Tung oil is best stored in a dark place and always close the bottle tightly.
