How did the vuvuzela originate?

A vuvuzela is a wind instrument that is especially popular among football fans in South Africa and that became known in many other countries in 2010, following the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The Vuvuzela

The instrument consists of a straight plastic tube of approximately 60 cm with a small cup at the end. At the other end is a mouthpiece. The vuvuzela is blown in the same way as a trumpet.
There is disagreement in South Africa as to who discovered the vuvuzela. The manufacturer of the plastic World Cup horn is located in the Chinese province of Zhejiang.

Changing the tension on the lips can produce other natural tones. The vuvuzela produces a maximum sound pressure of 113 dBA at the ear of the player to 131 decibels measured directly at the horn of the instrument. At 1 meter distance, the maximum sound pressure is 120 dBA.
